Dog Walks in North Somerset

by Brunel's Human, Jade

ABOUT US

Hi there,

My name is Brunel, I am a 7 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, who has an annoying 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier sister called Dusty. We enjoy going for various walks around the country side where we live, which is in North Somerset just outside Weston-Super-Mare to be precise.

My pet, human - Jade thought it would be a good idea to upload some of our dog friendly walks and I guess human friendly too.

Likes

-          Making the humans play “throw the ball”.

-          Getting the humans to stroke my chest.

-          Sleeping by the fire.

Dislikes

-          Dusty being an annoying little sister, always stealing my stuff.

-          Not having my chest stroked.

Black Down, Burrington

Every walk on Black Down is different, being muddy or very muddy, you can see deer, pheasants and on a good day, adders. There are multiple different options of walks to choose from once you are past the gate. The views here are amazing and the area is safe for dogs to run around, off lead, but be aware this is an area with wild ponies and cattle.

Goblin Combe, Cleeve

Walking on Goblin Combe is peaceful and fun; where the landscape changes throughout the year. Dogs are able to run around freely, explore the valley.  When walking on the cliff edge you may wish to put your dog on the lead. There is a geocache hidden on this walk, which appears to be too well hidden; as we have yet to find it.

Woodspring Priory, Kewstoke

Woodspring Priory, an interesting fun walk, with cattle and a salt water pond for dogs to play in at the end of a walk. One of Brunel's favourite places to play.

Sand Bay, Kewstoke

Sandbay - What can I say about Sandbay, other than it is a dog paradise, balls to chase, the sea to play in and other dogs to sniff and play with. This is a great walk whatever the weather as the view out to sea is always different. Brunel gets to run his energy off and Dusty gets to learn how to retrieve her ball, yes that's right she is still learning one day she may get the hang of it.

Cheddar Stream, Chedder

Stream walk and field walk near Cheddar football Club.

A Walk That Failed, Abbots Pool

I tried a new walk recently thinking Brunel would love it, as he loves the water and exploring new areas. How wrong I was. I witnessed other people and dogs loving the walk and pools but not Brunel, he enjoyed sniffing the area but not the pool. This was such a shame but at least I now know his limits.

Mendip Challenge 10 Miles

This is all about Brunel's Description of his day on the Mendip Challenge in June 2017.
